Wokingham Borough Council is pleased to announce the return of its free parking scheme in the lead up to, and over, the festive period.

Now in its 19th year, the council has announced the dates that visitors can park for free in council owned car parks, a popular scheme for shoppers and local businesses.

Parking will be free every weekend in December and the first weekend in January. This has been extended to include 25 December and 1 January, which are not bank holidays so would normally be subject to charge.

December dates for free parking are 4, 11, 18, 25, 26, 27 and 28, while an extra two dates have been added in January this year, on the 1 and 3.

Council owned car parks included in this offer are:

Wokingham – Carnival Pool Multi Storey, Cockpit Path, Denmark Street, Easthampstead Road (East and West), Rose Street, Shute End
Woodley – Crockhamwell Road, Headley Road and Lytham Road (East and West)

Twyford – Polehampton Close

Wargrave – School Lane

Councillor Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport, said: “Supporting our residents and local businesses is really important to us, so we are once again offering free parking to enable people to shop local this Christmas.

“We have a great range of independent and chain shops, restaurants and bars in the borough and we are helping people to access them and see what we have to offer by providing free parking.”

Users of the car park should note that all restrictions, such as maximum stays, parking in the right bays and ‘no return’ times still apply so that people get fair access to the free spaces. Don’t have your Christmas ruined by receiving a Penalty Charge Notice!

We have a great range of shops, cafés, restaurants and facilities and we hope that the free parking will encourage people to enjoy themselves and shop locally this festive season.
