Crowthorne Parish Council is organising an art competition to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.  Local portrait artist and librarian, Wendy Booth, and experienced artists Auxi Prats and Anne Emmett from Crowthorne and Sandhurst Art Society will be judging the entries to be displayed in a celebratory exhibition hosted at Crowthorne Library over the Jubilee weekend and half term.

 

Who can enter?

Both children and adults can enter their work.  There are 4 classes, each with their own specifications, so there is a class to suit every artist out there!

Adult classes

  1. Artwork of a royal theme. Any medium or style, 2D, less than A3.
  2. A hand-crafted royal piece of art. Needlework/woodwork/ceramics/craft etc. 3D

Children’s classes

  1. Years 7-13 – A portrait of HM Queen. A3 or less in size.  Any medium.
  2. Years Reception-6 – A portrait of HM Queen. Please use the entry form provided.

 

Prizes

We are happy to be sponsored by the international fine art supplies manufacturer Daler-Rowney, whose headquarters and colour manufacturing are based in Bracknell.  Daler-Rowney has been producing the finest art materials for nearly 240 years, and continues to support creativity for everyone at all levels of experience and age.

Adult classes:  Vouchers for Daler-Rowney fine art materials to a value of £150 for first, £100 for second and £50 for third prize.

Children’s classes:  Vouchers for Daler-Rowney – Giotto art materials to a value of £75 for first, £50 for second and £25 for third prize.

 

How to enter

More details and entry forms are found at www.crowthorne-pc.gov.uk.  Artists are asked to submit their work electronically to projects@crowthorne-pc.gov.uk along with the correct entry form for the class they are entering by Tuesday 3rd May for initial judging.  Shortlisted artists will be asked to bring their work for further judging to the parish office on 10-12th May.

 

Exhibition

Crowthorne Library will host the Platinum Jubilee Art Exhibition to display the winners and selected artworks from the competition.  The Bracknell Forest Mayor will present prizes to the winners at the opening ceremony on Thursday 26th May at 4pm.
