Residents get your skates on as Wokingham’s first ever ice skating rink is debuting this November at Cantley Park.
The ice skating rink will be situated within Cantley Park’s event field for eight weeks from 12 November 2021 until 7 January 2022, every day (excluding bank holidays) from 12pm to 8pm.
Provided by Chippa Events, the synthetic 13m x 19m ice rink will be available for everyone to use, with tickets starting from £7.50, turning Cantley Park’s event field into a magical winter wonderland. There will be a dedicated changing area, pairs of figure skates and skate aids available to ensure residents are fully equipped and get the most out of their time on the ice.
Executive member for environment and leisure Cllr Parry Batth said: “I am excited to announce that an ice skating rink is coming to Cantley Park – a first for Wokingham. Cantley Park offers the perfect backdrop to our festive activities, supported by the new leisure facilities we have recently opened to complement residents’ active lifestyles. Come and show us your figure eights and have fun dancing on ice – it really will be a white Christmas to remember!
“There’s plenty of festive activities happening at Cantley Park this winter including our very first Christmas Market which runs from 24 November to 24 December. We will have outdoor huts adorned in festive garlands with festoon lighting, and a variety of local vendors selling arts and crafts, and delicious food. The event is free to attend, so save the date, pop down to shop for Christmas gifts and take to the ice. Everyone is invited, the more the merrier!”
Prices
The ice skating rink is a ticketed event. An adult ticket costs £12, a child ticket costs £7.50 and a family of four ticket costs £30 (for families of four or more, it will be £5 per extra child). Each ticket allows entry onto the ice skating rink for one hour. Due to the popularity of this event, advanced booking is advised. Tickets can be purchased using the Eventbrite website. There will be some tickets available on the day, subject to availability. Tickets purchased through the Eventbrite website between 1 to 31 October will receive an early bird 10% discount.
The ice skating rink will be closed on bank holidays including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years’ Day.
The Christmas Market event is free to attend. Cantley Park’s Christmas market hut will be positioned nearby the ice skating rink selling a variety of delicious food, including mince pies to get families into the Christmas spirit.
